Product Information
This wine is a true expression of the high altitude, north facing slopes and the added advantage of a cooling sea breeze, adding complexity to this iconic wine.
A rich blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot, aged for 18 months in French oak, the Alto 1693 has juicy red fruit and soft violets on the nose rounded off with spiciness. The wine is well integrated with a seamless tannin structure, embodied by mulberries and pepper, finished off with a delicate aftertaste.

Regional Information
The 4 varietals were handpicked from trellised vineyards which grow in Hutton and Glenrosa soils. The north and north-west facing vineyards are situated against the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, some 100m to 500m above sea level, and benefit from the cooling effect of the afternoon martime breezes during the ripening season. At the time of picking the vines were between 4-23 years old and yielded 6 to 10 tons per hectare.
